If you happened to see us on House Hunters International, you might remember that the greatest drawback to the house we chose was its small compound, which left little room for Max and Elly to play, and zero green space.
But that’s soon about to change as we move to a new house (minus the HGTV cameras and reality-TV fame) in the next few days!
Our new house, which is owned by dear Tanzanian friends of ours who live in the US, has a oodles more outdoor space for Max and Elly to roam, and lots of trees and bushes.
It even has a banana grove, which Kakasii is super excited about.
There’s also room to expand our egg-production empire and to put in a kitchen garden, which I’m pretty excited about.
And room enough to park my car and two safari vehicles.
But perhaps the best exterior feature is Max and Elly’s new bedroom.
Just kidding. Sorta. I have threatened a few times to make this their room if they don’t behave.
Since our friends have lived in the States for many years, the house hasn’t received much love and attention for a long time, so there’s been a lot of work to get everything back into working order and move-in condition.
Much of the electrical and plumbing had to be repaired or replaced, the interior needed repainting, and the entire house and compound needed a good cleaning. So over the last month we’ve been working on all of that and I’ll be revealing several before and after photos in the days to come. Who knows, maybe this project will land us back on HGTV! 🙂
Enjoy your new home!
Thank you! We’re looking forward to the move. It’s much closer to Max and Elly’s school so we’ll be able to walk to drop them off and pick them up.
Looking forward to visiting your new home next Spring – just hope we don’t have to share Max & Elly’s airy room.
Yeah, I’m still trying to figure out guest accommodations at the house. Godi will be away at school when you’re here, but Ombeni will be back home. But I’m sure we can figure something out that won’t involve you sleeping outside.
How wonderful! You should all enjoy this very much.
I know Max and Elly will love the extra room to play. And they’ve already asked for a sand box and a trampoline!
That’s wonderful. I hope the move goes smoothly.
Well, considering I haven’t packed one. single. thing. I’m not so sure how smoothly it will go!
Don’t lose the kids in that big area ! . Looks really neat!
Once we add more banana plants to the banana grove, they’ll have lots of good hiding places!
Congrats on your new home!
Thanks! We’re really excited for the move!
